Summary/Purpose
Plans and directs activities concerned with the quality of parts from KBU-Cairo part/component suppliers.
Essential Duties and Accountabilities:
Develops and maintains receiving inspection procedures, work instructions and daily standards
Directs worker(s) engaged in measuring and testing incoming product from suppliers
Update the receiving inspection plan and communicates with the receiving inspector
Maintains the receiving inspection records and materials certifications as well as developing new inspection methods
Issue QFN (Quality Failure Notice) whenever a non-conforming part from the supplier is found, communicates with supplier and follows up on response. Upon receiving the supplier response, evaluate if the countermeasures are appropriate before approving and closing the QFN.
Verify that all incoming suspect material is properly identified using a NCR (Non Conformance Report) form and all suspect material is properly contained. Communication with Manufacturing, Production Control and Engineering is critical during this activity.
Issue a DMR (Defective Material Report) for each QFN issued and update the QFN log accordingly (number of non-conforming parts and internal cost ($) until the QFN is closed.
Establish and maintain a Supplier Audit Schedule. Schedule regular visits to suppliers and special visits (audits) as necessary in order to verify countermeasures to current or previous quality issues.
Request PPAP (Production Part Approval Process) from suppliers for every new product and production changes. Review, approve and maintain PPAP's in the proper quality folders.
The Supplier Quality Engineer is required to communicate internally within departments like engineering, production, quality and supply chain so as to find out measures on how to improve quality and productivity at the same time reducing per unit cost.
The Supplier Quality Engineer is responsible for recording and processing of data, so they can evaluate any improvement opportunities in the supply line.
Management of Receiving Inspection personnel as well as receiving inspection work instructions, procedures and documentation.
Continuous improvement activities with respect to new inspection methods.
Issuing QFN (Quality Failure Notice) for supplier nonconformance, implement internal mitigation plans, communicate activities with Manufacturing, Engineering and Production.
Issue and maintain DMR's associated with supplier non-conformances as well as track internal costs associated with DMR.
Manage supplier oversight and surveillance audits to drive down incidences of supplier non-conformances.
Approve and maintain supplier PPAP's.
Communicate any matters related to supplier product with Quality staff as well as other departments affected.
Drives implementation of purchased product and receiving inspection for all new product in support of the Quality Gate 20 process.
Maintain supplier metrics.

Supervisory Responsibilities

This position is responsible for supervising a department of four hourly employees in accordance with policies and procedures.
Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of gage design, metrology, sampling procedures, containment, corrective action procedures and process control. Knowledge of manufacturing equipment capabilities.
Education and
Experience:
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering and five to seven years' experience in quality

Work is mostly performed in a normal office setting with minimal exposure to health or safety hazards, and with substantial time spent working on a computer. Requires sufficient hand, arm, and finger dexterity to operate computer keyboard and other office equipment.
The performance of this position will occasionally require exposure to manufacturing areas which require the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses with side shields and mandatory hearing protection.
Travel by automobile and plane required approximately 30 to 50% of the time.


Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
